OUR MISSION

Promoting mindfulness and action towards women empowerment to develop the rising generation of women around the world

About Us

Mission Statement

Women experience universal themes of struggle in life, simply in different contexts. Yet, we often repress these difficulties from fear of judgement. Our mission is to normalize the voicing of these hardships because there is power in acknowledging, sharing, and connecting on the basis of these common experiences. Our goal is to form a powerful network of women around the world which transcends religion, race, ethnicity, and political views to unite and connect on the basis of being women in this society who feel moved to empower one another. IMRAA creates a safe, serene, and revitalizing space for women empowerment on campuses around the globe.

What Makes Us Unique

Though every women empowerment and women’s rights organization carries a strong value and unique impact on communities of women, IMRAA contributes to women empowerment in several distinct ways. IMRAA is highly broad in its focus of women empowerment. This will provide an opportunity for a diverse range of matters to be discussed. Moreover, the specific activities IMRAA is introducing are unique in nature. IMRAA also has a national and international reach, as it is developing a network of organizations. This reflects its existence as a growing movement to empower the rising generation of women around the world. IMRAA frames its efforts by the UN Sustainable Development goals as well as mindfulness. This will heighten student’s global awareness on how we are actively working to improve our world. The mindfulness framework will be highly valuable in accentuating the values of living in the present moment and acceptance in life.

Our Story

Amna Baloul and Catherine Meadows met at a conference while interning for the same non-governmental organization. Utilizing Amna's motivations and network at the College of William & Mary, as well as Catherine's personal connections with schools in Ghana, they combined their visions of promoting mindfulness and action towards women empowerment to develop an international network of youth-led chapters and initiatives for the rising generation of women around the world.

The IMRAA Co-Founders at William & Mary recognized that the genuine connections they developed with friends who they could openly discuss topics around women empowerment with were mostly created by mere chance, such as the freshman hall they were assigned to. They strived to create a space where women could meet which would prove especially beneficial to first year students who are in search of friends they can bond and grow with on a deeper level.
